Organisation Validation Digital Certificate (Server) with “Multi-domain” feature

Organisation Validation (OV) Digital Certificate (d-Cert) (Server) with “Multi-domain” feature with the “Multi‑domain” feature provides standard SSL/TLS encryption for up to 50 server names across multiple distinct domains owned by the Subscriber Organisation, following verification of both the applicant’s control over the relevant domains and the legal legitimacy of the organisation. This certificate enables secure HTTPS connections across websites, removes “Not Secure” warnings displayed by web browsers, and delivers foundational data protection with enhanced user trust. It is offered with a one‑year subscription period.

During the one‑year subscription period, subscribers may obtain an unlimited number of new d-Certs (Server) under the same application at no additional charge. The validity period of each newly issued certificate will be subject to either the phased maximum validity period or the remaining subscription period, whichever is shorter.

Server names may span multiple domain names owned by the Subscriber Organisation. For example, a d-Cert (Server) with the “Multi‑domain” feature may be used to secure the following server names across different domains:

  • hkca.hk
  • www.hkirc.hk

Note:

  1. A d-Cert (Server) with the “Multi‑domain” feature identifies one server name by default. Where more than one, but no more than 50, server names are required, all additional server names must be specified in the application, and an additional subscription fee applies per additional server name.
  2. Wildcard characters (i.e. the asterisk “*”) are not permitted as part of any server name.
  3. All server names are fixed upon issuance and cannot be changed thereafter.
  4. The certificate includes digital signature key usage, the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) field, and the Extended Key Usage field. For details, please refer to Appendix B of the Certification Practice Statement (CPS).
  5. Digital signatures supported by the OV d-Cert (Server) with the “Multi‑domain” feature are intended solely for server authentication and the establishment of secure communication channels. They must not be used for contract negotiations, legally binding agreements, or monetary transactions.

Eligibility for OV d-Cert (Server) with “Multi‑domain”

An OV d-Cert (Server) with “Multi‑domain” feature is intended for organisations and businesses that operate multiple domain names and require a higher level of trust than Domain Validation. It verifies both control of the domain names and the legal identity of the organisation, enabling multiple domains to be secured under a single digital certificate.

This certificate is suitable for organisations managing multiple websites, brand domains, or service platforms, where users need assurance that each website is operated by a verified and legitimate organisation.

Benefits of Using an OV d-Cert (Server) with “Multi‑domain”

The use of an OV d-Cert (Server) with “Multi‑domain” feature enables organisations to encrypt data transmitted between users and servers using standard SSL/TLS technology while also verifying the organisation’s legal identity. It provides a higher level of trust and assurance than Domain Validation certificates across all protected domain names.

In addition, an OV Multi‑domain d-Cert (Server) simplifies certificate management by allowing multiple domains to be secured under one certificate, reduces administrative overhead, and strengthens organisational credibility across diverse online services and websites.
