Personal Information Collection Statement

The information collected about you will be used for processing your Digital Certificate application.

HKCA has engaged Certizen Limited (“Contractor”) as a subservice organization to provide operations and maintenance for its Certification Authority systems and associated certificate services. The Contractor’s management is responsible for implementing the operating controls to support those systems and services. The Contractor may use personal data provided by subscribers solely for performing its contractual obligations to deliver HKCA services, and must handle such data in accordance with the PDPO and the HKCA’s Privacy Policy.

Information we collected about you will not be disclosed by us to any other party in a form that would identify you unless it is permitted or authorised by law.

It is voluntary for you to supply to us your personal data. Failure to provide related data may affect the processing of your application.

Our general policy is to retain your application data for as long as necessary to carry out the functions of the Certification Authority. We do not offer online facilities for you to delete personal data held by us.

You have the right to request access to and correction of information about you held by us. If you wish to exercise this right, please present your enquiry or request to our Data Protection Officer by e-mail to enquiry@hkca.hk or write to:

We may charge a reasonable fee for processing a data access request. For reference purpose, a photocopying charge of HK$1.3 per page (A4 size) and HK$1.5 per page (A3 size) (black and white copy) will be levied in relation to your requested information. The charge is subject to revision from time to time.

If you have any change on the information previously provided to HKCA in Digital Certificate application e.g. mailing address, correspondence email, contact telephone, you can update your personal information online through our Subscriber Portal.
